Providing online, video therapy on a secure platform in North and South Carolina
Online therapy is the easiest way for you to get therapy!
Online therapy gives you the opportunity to have access to the therapist you want no matter where you are in North Carolina or South Carolina. Online therapy is similar to Zoom, meaning it will be over video chat. One great thing about therapy is that you get to choose whether you only want online therapy sessions or if you would like a combination of online and in person therapy sessions.
So how does it work?
The first thing you will do whether you want online therapy or a combination of online and in person is to schedule your free, no obligation phone consultation. During the phone consultation I will ask you some questions and I will allow you to ask me any questions you have about me or what online therapy will be like. This will help us figure out if we will be a good match for therapy.
After the phone consultation I will email you a link to your client portal where you will fill out intake paperwork at your leisure before our first session. Then I will send you an email with the link to your virtual “waiting room.” I will send a new link for each virtual session by email or text. For your first session, if you are using a smart phone you will need to download the Telehealth by SimplePractice app.
Online therapy is very similar to therapy in person. There is nothing to download (unless you are using your smart phone of course) and no confusing software. The only thing you need is internet connection and headphones for privacy.
Online therapy is great for teens and young adults; however, some younger children will need to be seen in person for therapy to be more effective. It can be hard to do play therapy through a screen, but it is possible! I will see children 8 years and older for online sessions! As their parent, you know your child the best. If you decide virtual is the best option for them, I will be 100% supportive! They will just need paper and something to draw with for most of our virtual sessions. In the beginning, I will ask that a parent sits with them (and participate in the art activities), but as they become more comfortable in therapy and online sessions, I will have you step out of the room for part of the session.
